TVS’s subsidiary Eurogrip, which manufactures a huge line of tyres for diverse use cases, has recently announced that it is working on a superbike tyre to rival the likes of the Pirelli Supercorsa SP V4 that is slated to hit the market in 2027.
- Eurogrip could price this superbike tyre lower than its European rivals
- Will sit above the Roadhound in Eurogrip’s line-up
Eurogrip aims to take on European rivals
Currently, there are very few Indian-made big-bike tyre options
Currently, Eurogrip offers a plethora of options that cater to a wide spectrum of audiences, right from commuters to middleweight motorcycles. The most premium offering from Eurogrip is the Roadhound, which is available with a 120-section front tyre and an option of either 160-section or 180-section for the rear. A pair of (F/R) 120/70-ZR17 / 180/55-ZR17 cumulatively comes up to Rs 26,498 (before shipping, fitting and wheel balancing charges). This new tyre is slated to sit above the Roadhound and could likely cost a bit more.
However, considering Eurogrip’s earlier pricing strategy and lower production costs, it’s quite likely that the upcoming Eurogrip superbike tyre could be priced lower than its European rivals. Eurogrip is planning to take on the Pirelli Supercorsa SP V4 with this new tyre, which is currently priced at Rs 54,000 (approx.) for a set.
The Eurogrips will not be a pair of slicks, as those are not road-legal. Much like the Supercorsa SP V4, the Eurogrip counterpart will feature a tread pattern to make it safe for road usage. Eurogrip has announced that this tyre will go on sale in India in 2027, and it remains to be seen at what price.
