Ducati has taken the wraps off its first special edition based on the new-generation Panigale V4, in the form of the Tricolore. It will be limited to 1,000 units worldwide, and in typical Tricolore fashion, gets a bespoke paint job as well as some special componentry.

  1. Special Tricolore livery bespoke to this bike
  2. Brake discs are the same size as those on WSBK racers
  3. Gets carbon-fibre wheels, dry clutch

Earlier this year, Ducati revealed the updated Panigale V4, carrying many small changes over the older model, the most noteworthy of which was the absence of a single-sided swingarm. Now, the company has shown us the Panigale V4 Tricolore, which is based on the V4 S, but has special componentry, a bespoke paint job in the colour of the Italian flag, and is limited to 1,000 units globally.

The Tricolore comes with a billet aluminum steering plate bearing the bike’s number and it will also come with a certificate of authenticity. The Tricolore also has an exposed dry clutch, similiar to the V4 R.

A lot of carbon-fibre components are standard on the Tricolore: the front and rear mudguards, swing-arm protector and the alternator cover. It also features 5-spoke carbon-fibre wheels, which reduce the unsprung mass by 950 grams. Despite all these carbon-fibre parts, the Tricolore has gained a kilo, weighing 188kg (wet, without fuel) compared to the V4 S.

It also features Brembo T-drive finned discs, which are 338mm in diameter, the largest on any production bike. This is the same size as the ones used in WorldSBK and the Brembo Hypure calipers are also finished in a unique titanium shade.

Given that the updated Panigale V4 is still not on sale here, it remains to be seen if the Tricolore version will come to India.
