One of India’s first BS6-compliant two-wheelers, the Hero Splendor iSmart has witnessed a price hike. The 113.2cc commuter was launched in India at Rs 64,900, but has now seen a hike of Rs 2,200 to Rs 67,100.

The Splendor range consists of three models - the Splendor Plus, Splendor iSmart and the Super Splendor. All three models meet the BS6 standards, and the Splendor Plus continues to be the most affordable with a starting price of Rs 59,600. The Super Splendor, meanwhile, is the most expensive variant, starting at Rs 67,300.

The Splendor uses a new engine that is a 113.2cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected unit, as compared to the 109.15cc carburetted one seen on the BS4 Splendor iSmart. Despite the increase in displacement, power is down from 9.5hp to 9.1hp, albeit still produced at 7,500rpm. However, there has been a 10 percent increase in torque, with the peak figure now being 9.89Nm produced at 5,500rpm.

The bike also uses a 240mm front disc and 130mm rear drum brake as standard. It also is fitted with a brighter headlight, but continues to feature Hero’s i3s start-stop technology.

All prices, ex-showroom Delhi.
