Bajaj Chetak deliveries to begin in last week of January 2020

The launch of the Bajaj Chetak isn’t too far away. Last month, the company revealed that bookings for the scooter will commence in January 2020, and we can now confirm that deliveries will first begin shortly after in Pune and Bengaluru, simultaneously. Initially, the Chetak will be sold via select KTM dealerships.

While prices will only be revealed in January, what we do know about the Chetak so far is that it will get a 4kW electric motor and that it uses a unique automated transmission. The lithium-ion battery pack is non-removable, with Bajaj claiming a real-world range of 95km in Eco Mode and 85km in Sport mode.

The Chetak is being positioned as a premium product and details like the ‘feather touch’ switchgear, full-LED lighting, digital console, all reflect that. Considering this, we do expect the Chetak to cost upwards of Rs 1 lakh, but the company MD Rajiv Bajaj did mention that the price will be attractive but not aggressive, and that it certainly won’t cost as much as Rs 1.5 lakh.

We will have to wait a couple more weeks to know exactly how much the new Bajaj Chetak will cost, but for now, potential customers in Pune and Bengaluru have a time frame to look forward to. Stay tuned for more information!
