Ducati has revealed the off-road-focused Enduro variant of its Multistrada 1260. This bike features wire-spoke wheels, a 30-litre fuel tank capacity, increased suspension travel and more. Ducati will showcase the bike at the upcoming EICMA show in November and launch the motorcycle globally, early next year.
The Multistrada Enduro rides on spoke wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. Along with this, the motorcycle also uses a recalibrated, electronic, semi-active Sachs suspension with 185mm of suspension travel – up from 170mm seen on the standard 1260 and 1260 S. The large, 30-litre fuel tank (up from 20 litres seen on the other Multistradas) gives it a claimed range of more than 450km.
Powering the Enduro is the new 1,262cc, liquid-cooled, L-Twin motor which is also found on the standard 1260 and 1260 S. It produces 158hp at 9,500rpm – a 6hp increment over the 2017 model. Torque has also gone up by 1.5Nm, bringing the total up to 129.5Nm, delivered at 7,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with DQS (Ducati Quick Shift), which allows for clutchless shifts both, up and down.
Ducati has always equipped its flagship adventure-tourer motorcycle well and the new Multistrada Enduro is no exception. The 1260 comes with cornering ABS, back-lit handlebar controls and automatic turn-signal cancellation. The bike also features riding modes, Ducati Wheelie Control, cruise control and hands-free connectivity. An important addition is that of Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), a standard feature which is now part of the new ABS unit. In effect, this holds the bike steady by activating the rear brake (for a period of 9sec, after which it automatically deactivates, if unused). The Enduro also features the same 5.0-inch colour TFT display seen in the 1260 S.
The 1260 Enduro will be available in two colours – Ducati Red and Sand. Ducati will also offer a number of accessories (such as aluminium panniers and a top case) with the bike. A few months ago, Ducati had launched the standard 1260 at an introductory price of Rs 15.99 lakh and the higher-spec 1260 S at Rs 18.06 lakh in India. We expect the Enduro to be priced slightly higher than the 1260 S.
In terms of competition, the Enduro will take on the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure (starting from 17.25 lakh) and Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx (starting from Rs 17 lakh)
