The entry point into the Jawa motorcycle range is the 42. It is the sole Yezdi-Jawa machine to be powered by the smaller 294cc engine, whereas all other models use a version of the larger 334cc motor. The 42 has a neo-retro design but leans more towards the new side of things with its alloy wheels, matte finishes and fully-digital instrumentation. The 294cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine makes 27.3hp and 26.8Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip/assist clutch. With a total of fifteen colour options available, the 42 has one of the widest colour palettes in the Indian motorcycle market to choose from and the Ivory White is the latest addition to it.

Poll of the month

What do you think about E85 fuel’s Rs 82.12/litre price in India?

Good - Rs 20/litre cheaper than E20 is a big advantage
Bad - it should have been priced even lower
Doesn’t matter - there aren’t enough E85-compatible vehicles yet
