The CLA is underpinned by Mercedes' EV-first MMA architecture which also supports hybrid powertrains
The genius of the CLA Electric’s powertrain lies in its relentless pursuit of efficiency.
Sleek design gives it a drag coefficient of just 0.21, just behind that of the EQS (0.20).
Sealed-off grille is studded with 142 illuminated Mercedes stars.
Connected LED tail lamps with three-point star motif gives it a distinctive, high-tech look.
The CLA has always been a design-first sedan, and the new electric version retains its distinctive four-door coupe silhouette.
The interior of the new CLA's feels like a digital sanctuary; gets a 10.25-inch driver display and a 14-inch central touchscreen.
Front seats are snug and well bolstered; fit and finish are excellent, too.
Rear seat comfort is compromised due to a knees-up seating position and upright backrest.
New MBUX system significantly enhances navigation; uses Google as its base.
Passenger side of the dashboard also gets three-point star motif that lights up in sync with the ambient lighting package.
Unlike the EQS EVs, the bonnet opens. Gets a handy 101-litre frunk space.
The CLA has a WLTP-certified range of up to 792km in rear-wheel drive configuration.
The CLA is India-bound by the end of 2025 with an expected price of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Meet the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric. It is underpinned a new Modular Architecture (MMA) – an EV-first platform which has been ingeniously engineered to accommodate combustion engines and hybrid powertrains as well. The CLA EV line-up starts with the entry-level 250+ with EQ Technology that is claimed to deliver a range of 792km. Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive CLA 350 4Matic with EQ Technology is claimed to deliver 770km. It is the former that is India-bound by the end of 2025 and is expected to be priced around Rs 60 lakh (Ex-showroom). Inside, the new CLA Electric feels like a digital sanctuary, debuting Mercedes’ fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system, built on the new MB.OS software. The CLA EV’s impressive range figure is in no small part thanks to its aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.21. This isn’t just another EV. It’s a symbol of where electric luxury is headed. And for Indian buyers, it’s an invitation to be a part of that future.
