Celebrating 50 years of AMG
One of the few special Edition 50 models that Mercedes-AMG has launched to commemorate 50 years.
AMG is named for founders, Aufrecht and Melcher, while Großaspach is Aufrecht’s hometown. They began with an “engineering office and design and testing centre for the development of racing engines” near Stuttgart in 1967.

In 1971, the AMG 300 SEL 6.8 came out of nowhere to claim victory in its class, and came in second place overall in the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium.
Daimler bought out AMG and created Mercedes-AMG in 2005. The now iconic gull-winged SLS AMG sports car is one of the results.
The utterly bonkers G 63 AMG shows that AMG wanted to endow massive SUVs with supercar levels of performance.
