Jeep India launched its Compass SUV in 2017, followed by a facelift in 2021. It is currently the most affordable Jeep in the country and rivals the likes of the Tata Harrier and Hyundai Tucson. Without further ado, we have answered the five most frequently asked questions about the Jeep Compass below.
1. What is the Jeep Compass price?
Rs 18.99 lakh onwards

The Jeep Compass price range starts at Rs 18.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 32.41 lakh (ex-showroom, India). 2. What features does the Jeep Compass interior have?
10.1-inch touchscreen, ventilated and powered front seats

Talking about interior features, the Compass Model S(O) top model is loaded to the gills with a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, dual-zone AC, powered and ventilated front seats, leather seats, an auto-dimming IRVM, a wireless charger and a 9-speaker setup from the house of Alpine. Jeep has also equipped the Compass with a panoramic sunroof.
3. Is the Jeep Compass a 7-seat SUV?
Can seat up to 5

No, the Jeep Compass is a 5-seat SUV. Those looking for a 7-seat Jeep can consider the Meridian, which is also available with a 5-seat configuration. Our Jeep Compass review noted that comfort and adjustability are first-class. The rear seats, which have a 60:40 split, offer ample headroom, shoulder room and legroom, and the long squab or seat base is very supportive. That said, some of the Compass’s rivals are wider in the back and better suited for seating three abreast.
4. What is the Jeep Compass' mileage?
Up to 17.3kpl

In India, the Jeep Compass comes with a single 170hp, 350Nm, 2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which can be mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The Jeep Compass delivers a mileage of 17.3kpl with the manual and up to 16.2kpl with the automatic gearboxes (both as per the SUV specialist). The Jeep Compass petrol is no longer sold in India. Notably, this same diesel motor does duty in the Tata Harrier and Safari. Tata recently acquired licensing rights for the in-house development of this engine.
5. What is the Jeep Compass’ ground clearance, and does it have a 4x4 system?
208mm; 4WD offered with top model

The Jeep Compass has a ground clearance of 208mm (unladen). It should be noted that the even more rugged Jeep Compass Trailhawk is no longer on sale in India. While 4x2 is standard, only the Compass Model S(O) can be had with a 4x4 system. Also, the gearbox pairing here is limited to the torque converter automatic unit.
