Hero Xpulse 200 4V price and variants explained

The Hero Xpulse 200 is the spiritual successor to the erstwhile Impulse and has steadily garnered a strong following in India thanks to its accessible pricing and genuine off-road capability. While the platform has now evolved further with the more sophisticated Xpulse 210 featuring a liquid-cooled engine, the Xpulse 200 continues to remain on sale in multiple variants. Here, we explain all the variants of the Xpulse 200 4V.

Irrespective of the variant, the Xpulse 200 4V comes powered by a 199cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 19.1hp and 17.3Nm, mated to a five-speed gearbox. All variants retain the same core dual-purpose character, with differences mainly centred around suspension setup, ergonomics and visual treatment.

Base

Rs 1.44 lakh

The standard Xpulse 200 4V serves as the entry point into the range and is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

This version features a more accessible setup compared to the Pro variants, with an 825mm seat height and 220mm ground clearance. Suspension travel stands at 190mm at the front and 170mm at the rear. It is positioned as the more approachable and road-friendly version in the Xpulse line-up while still retaining credible off-road ability.

Pro

Rs 1.56 lakh

The Xpulse 200 4V Pro builds on the standard model with substantial off-road-oriented upgrades.

Compared to the base variant, the Pro gets increased suspension travel, a taller stance and ergonomic revisions aimed at more serious trail riding. It features an adjustable telescopic front fork with 250mm of travel and a rear adjustable mono-shock with 220mm of travel. Seat height rises to 891mm, while ground clearance increases to 270mm. The Pro variant also gets a handlebar riser as standard.

For a premium of around Rs 12,000 over the standard bike, the Pro brings significantly more genuine off-road-capable hardware to what is already a capable platform, making it the more focused choice for trail riding enthusiasts.

Pro Dakar Edition

Rs 1.55 lakh

Based on the Pro, the Dakar Edition remains mechanically unchanged but draws inspiration from Ross Branch’s 2024 Dakar-winning motorcycle.

The Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition gets the same adjustable telescopic front fork with 250mm of travel, along with a rear adjustable mono-shock with 220mm of travel. It also retains the taller ergonomics, increased ground clearance and off-road-focused setup of the Pro variant.

The primary differentiator is its Dakar-inspired visual treatment and graphics package, lending it a stronger rally-inspired identity compared to the standard Pro.

Interestingly, at Rs 1.55 lakh, the Dakar Edition is priced slightly below the standard Pro variant.

All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Poll of the month

What do you think about the push for ethanol blends even higher than E20 petrol?

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports
I support it as it’s a greener solution than pure petrol
I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
I am concerned about damage to my vehicle
Not good; fuel efficiency will drop even further
