Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z vs Triumph Speed T4

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z and the Triumph Speed T4 both have been developed by Bajaj. However, the Pulsar NS 400Z is solely developed by Bajaj, whereas the Triumph Speed T4 has been jointly developed by Bajaj-Triumph under their partnership.

This test is a little different as both motorcycles have not been tested under optimum weather conditions. The Pulsar NS400Z was tested in wet conditions whereas the Speed T4 was tested under dry conditions. This test is purely to give an idea about how the Pulsar NS400Z stacks up against the Speed T4.

The Pulsar and Speed have a difference of 9hp, while the Speed makes slightly more torque. Even though branded as 400s, the Pulsar gets a smaller engine displacing 373cc compared to speed’s 398cc.

Our acceleration test is conducted from a standstill and it is important to note that the Speed had a competitive advantage in this test. From the get-go, the NS400Z is a lot quicker and maintains its pace till the 100kph mark. The difference of 1.8 seconds is pretty substantial between the two when you take into consideration that the weather condition during the Pulsar NS400Z’s run.

For our in-gear acceleration tests, we assess both motorcycles to see how quick they are in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, respectively. The Triumph gets an edge over here in the 20-50kph and 50-80kph acceleration tests, showcasing quickier in-gear acceleration.

This test evaluates a bike’s ability to brake hard and come to a standstill from 60kph. While the Triumph emerged victorious, the results were marginal. Given ideal conditions, the Pulsar NS400Z equipped with a larger 320mm disc and lighter weight could have performed better.
