Mercedes-Benz has revealed the second-gen AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. Unlike its V8-powered predecessor, the 2026 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe switches to fully electric power in a bid to rival the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. Below, we’ve outlined everything you need to know about the AMG division’s first ground-up EV.
Which powertrain does the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe have?

The new AMG GT 4-door Coupe is the first model to be underpinned by the 800V AMG.EA platform. It’s also the first series-production car to use axial-flux motors, and there are three of them. Axial-flux motors are much more compact and energy-dense than conventional radial-flux ones. In range-topping GT 63 guise, the car develops a colossal 1,169hp and 2,000Nm, whereas the lower-spec GT 55 makes 816hp and 1,801Nm.
The motors are powered by a 106kWh battery pack with oil-cooled cells, and there’s support for up to 600kW DC charging. At that wattage, you can add 460km range in just 10 minutes, while a 10-80 percent recharge takes 11 minutes, claims the brand. The WLTP-tested range is 696km for the GT 63 and 700km for the GT 55.
What are the performance figures of the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe?

Thanks to its staggering powertrain outputs and a slippery drag coefficient of 0.22, the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe claims highly impressive performance figures. The GT 63 dispatches the 0-100kph run in a swift 2.1 seconds and hits 200kph in 6.4 seconds, while the GT 55 manages a 0-100kph time of sub-3 seconds. Top speed for both variants is rated at 300kph with the optional Driver’s Package.
Further enhancing the experience is a simulated soundtrack based on the engine note of the previous-gen AMG GT R’s twin-turbo V8. Built from over 1,600 audio files, it even mimics the deep V8 burble at idle and the gear shifts of a dual-clutch transmission. On the dynamics front, Mercedes-AMG has packed in tech like active ride control, all-wheel steering and active aero.
What are the exterior design highlights of the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe?

Just shy of 5.1 metres in length, the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is 1.96 metres wide and 1.41 metres tall. Up front, it sports connected LED headlights with three-pointed star daytime running lamps (DRLs), below which sits a wide grille housing illuminated slats and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz emblem. Subtle air intakes surround the grille.

Over to the side, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe gets 21-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles and a swooping roofline. It leads into a distinctive rear end dominated by a massive blacked-out section that integrates an LED lightbar up top and six three-pointed star DRLs. Below, there’s a gloss-black diffuser.
Which features does the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe get?

Inside, the most prominent element of the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is its triple-screen layout, comprising a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 14-inch passenger display. There’s not much in the way of physical controls other than those on the steering wheel, but the centre console houses a trio of rotary knobs that allow the driver to adjust the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe’s driving manners.

In terms of creature comforts, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe can be had with a panoramic glass roof with embedded LEDs, ambient lighting, dual wireless charging pads, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, an ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite, powered front seats, leather and Alcantara upholstery options, and more.
