Vinfast has launched the VF MPV 7 in India with a single fully loaded variant priced at Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the Vietnamese manufacturer’s third product for the Indian market and takes on models such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7, both of which also offer three rows of seating. So, how does the Vinfast VF MPV 7 compare against its Kia and BYD rivals? We find out.

The Vinfast VF MPV 7 is noticeably larger than both rivals. It is 190mm longer and 72mm wider than the Kia Carens Clavis EV and has a 60mm longer wheelbase, while the height is nearly the same. Compared to the BYD eMax 7, the VF MPV 7 is 30mm longer, 62mm wider and 44mm taller, and it sits on a 40mm longer wheelbase. It also stands out with larger 19-inch alloy wheels, whereas both competitors come with 17-inch rims.

Unlike the Vinfast VF MPV 7, both the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the BYD eMax 7 are available with two battery options. Notably, the VF MPV 7’s battery pack is larger than both the options available with the Carens Clavis EV and falls between those of the eMax 7.
In terms of performance, the VF MPV 7 matches the power output of the eMax 7’s larger-battery version but produces 30Nm less torque. Compared to the Carens Clavis EV with the larger battery pack, it delivers 33hp and 25Nm more.
The eMax 7, with the largest battery in the segment, offers the highest claimed range – around 80km more than the VF MPV 7 (NEDC). Compared to the Kia Carens Clavis EV, the Vinfast e-MPV covers at least 27km longer distance on a single charge as per the ARAI cycle.

Priced at Rs 24.49 lakh, the Vinfast VF MPV 7 is Rs 50,000 more affordable than the top-spec variant of the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Meanwhile, the BYD eMax 7 remains the most expensive e-MPV in this comparison, with its base variant costing Rs 2.41 lakh more than the Vinfast VF MPV 7. On paper, the VF MPV 7 appears to be a strong middle-ground contender with better specifications than the Carens Clavis EV and a more affordable price tag than the BYD eMax 7.
