Skoda Kylaq gets a sole 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The entry-level Classic trim is only available with the 6-speed manual gearbox, while the Signature, Signature+ and Prestige trims have a 6-speed torque converter automatic option.
Skoda claims a top speed of 188kph, and that the manual version can sprint from 0-100kph in 10.5 seconds. Our Kylaq real world performance tests showed that the automatic can do the sprint in 11.69 seconds. Skoda also claims an ARAI fuel economy of 19.68kpl for the manual and 19.05kpl for the automatic; our Kylaq real world mileage tests saw the manual average 12.86kpl, while the automatic went 11.03km on a litre of petrol.
While there are seven exterior finishes available with Skoda’s compact SUV – Olive Gold, Lava Blue, Deep Black, Tornado Red, Candy White, Carbon Steel and Brilliant Silver – that’s only for the top-spec Kylaq Prestige trim. The entry-level Kylaq Classic only has red, silver and white options, with the Olive Gold being a Rs 9,000 optional extra. In addition to the colour options on the base trim, the mid-spec Signature trim gets the Deep Black and Lava Blue colours for Rs 9,000 more, while the higher-spec Signature+ only has the Lava Blue as an optional extra.

Considering the Kylaq’s price range and features list, Skoda’s compact SUV seem to offer good value and be comparatively priced compared to turbo-petrol compact SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet.
