Since then, legacy manufacturers such as Hero, Honda, TVS and Bajaj have continued to push the envelope, offering frugal and dependable bikes at remarkably low prices. With the revised GST 2.0 rates now in effect, prices have dropped, making the bikes even more affordable than they already were.

Bajaj Platina 100

Kicking off this list is a Bajaj motorcycle. The Platina 100 was earlier priced at Rs 68,262, but after the GST 2.0 rates came into effect, its price dropped to Rs 66,015. The Platina is a hardy 100cc commuter, powered by a 102cc air-cooled engine. It delivers 7.9hp and 8.3Nm of torque and comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
Honda Shine 100

The Shine 100 is Honda’s most affordable two-wheeler in India. It is powered by a 98.98cc air-cooled engine producing 7.38hp and 8.04Nm, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The brand recently launched a more desirable Honda Shine 100 DX model for buyers who want a bit more flair from their daily commuter without breaking the bank.

Hero HF 100

Priced significantly lower than the Platina 100 and Shine 100 is the Hero HF 100, which comes as no surprise, given Hero’s expertise in managing economies of scale and delivering excellent value at a low asking price. The HF family shares its engine with the rugged Splendor but is offered at a more affordable price point. It is powered by a 97.2cc air-cooled engine that produces 7.9hp and 8.05Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. Earlier, the HF 100 was priced at Rs 60,118 and was the most affordable bike in the country, a title now held by another bike.
Hero HF Deluxe (All Black)

The HF Deluxe shares its engine with the HF 100. It comes in multiple variants, and the difference between them is mainly down to colours and stickering. However, this price tag of Rs 56,657 is only for the All Black variant that cost Rs 61,098 earlier – a massive price reduction of just under Rs 5,000.
TVS Sport ES

The TVS Sport ES is the most affordable bike in the country, a title earlier held by the Hero HF 100. The ES Suffix in the Sport name indicates electric start. Previously offered as a 100cc model, it was upgraded to a 109.7cc engine during the BS6 transition in 2020 and also got fuel injection. With this update, the TVS Sport also received a bump in peak output from 7.3hp and 7.5Nm of torque to 8.3hp and 8.7Nm. Since then, the TVS Sport has remained largely unchanged, barring emission-related updates.
