I am a first-time buyer and confused about whether to buy the Tata Taigo Pure+ AMT, Hyundai i10 Sportz AMT or Swift VXi Opt AMT. I will use the car for occasional city as well as highway driving and not for everyday commuting. Please suggest the best option or any other option available around this budget range. Also, please suggest if I should but cng for this type of usage or stick to a petrol car.

On the CNG question, we would recommend sticking to petrol. CNG only makes financial sense if you have high monthly running, and for occasional city and highway use, petrol is the more convenient and hassle-free option. You avoid the compromises of reduced boot space too.

With your very minimal usage, the benefits of the Camry's strong hybrid system really won't pay any dividends, and as it is a much larger car with a lower ground clearance, it takes away the convenience factor you are looking for. As such, then, the two compact luxury SUVs are both great options that will suit your needs better. The X1 LWB is a better bet if you are chauffeur-driven, thanks to its immense rear-seat space. However, in most respects, the new Q3 will be the better bet, especially if you drive yourself. It gets a more powerful 2.0-litre engine rather than the BMW's 1.5, it has AWD, and Audi's latest tech. Plus, it's easy to drive and see out of, and Audi has cleverly chosen a smaller rim size for India to ensure that ride quality remains comfortable. Test drive the iX1 too, but overall, the Q3 seems like the better bet for your needs.

Between the Tata Punch and Tata Altroz, the Altroz petrol is the better fit for your needs. With a family of five and very low monthly running, a petrol car is the right choice - CNG cars only make sense when running is high to justify the extra cost. The Altroz is the better family car here: it offers a more comfortable ride, a wider rear seat and a more spacious cabin than the Punch, which matters on longer journeys with three at the back. On ethanol blending, there is no need to worry. Modern petrol cars are engineered to handle E20, and there is no official roadmap for E25 or E30 in the near future. Go ahead with the Altroz petrol.

I am new to driving and am looking for a sub-4-metre petrol SUV with a torque converter automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 12-13 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

For a new driver with predominantly city use, its 1.0 TSI with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic is smooth and easy to drive, while the compact dimensions make it relatively easy to manage in traffic. It also has a more mature, planted feel on the highway.The Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro AT is the better choice if rear-seat space is the priority. Its cabin is wider and more accommodating for a family of five, and its 1.2 turbo-petrol makes 200Nm, giving it stronger low-end and mid-range performance than the Kylaq.However, the 3XO's boot is also one of its compromises, while the Kylaq offers a better balance of driving dynamics, boot space and highway manners. Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
