I have a 2018 Fiat Punto and am planning to upgrade to an automatic SUV with good boot space. My daily city commute is around 50 km in heavy traffic. However, I'm unable to find an alternative that offers the same mileage and driving experience as the Punto. Please suggest.

Being a Fiat Punto owner, a Jeep Compass diesel-automatic would have been an ideal upgrade for you, however there are far better, more affordable options available in the market. You could consider a Mahindra XUV 7XO or even a Tata Harrier, for their solid build, and confidence-inspiring driving experience. The diesel-automatic versions of both these should return respectable fuel efficiency too.

However, if you want something a bit more compact and more manageable in the city, consider the strong hybrid versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara or Maruti Suzuki Victoris. All three are essentially the same car underneath; their hybrid powertrain is very efficient; and dynamically they are very capable too. Between these three, choose the one you think looks better, and the brand you're comfortable with.

I’m considering buying a brand-new 2025-manufactured Audi Q3 Sportback (E20-compliant) after being offered an on-road price of Rs 55 lakh. I’m getting a good deal as it’s an outgoing model, and I’m quite inclined towards going ahead with it. However, before I make the decision, I’d like your unbiased expert opinion: does the Q3 Sportback at this price make sense, or should I reconsider and look at other options such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO (space is not a priority, as we are a family of four)? The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a fundamentally well-engineered car with strong engines, a comfortable ride and a spacious cabin. The software glitches and sunroof leaks you see online are not widespread issues, and Mahindra has been proactive in addressing them through software updates and warranty support. The Kia Seltos is the safer, more polished choice with a more consistent ownership experience, but the XUV 7XO offers more space and stronger performance.That said, if you are the kind of buyer who will lose sleep over the occasional niggle, the Kia car mentioned above is the safer bet. But if you want the more capable and more spacious car, the XUV 7XO is the better choice.
