The calendar for the 2026 F1 season has been revealed, featuring a total of 24 rounds. The major change is the addition of a new race at Madrid, while Imola has been dropped. Other changes help further streamline the calendar, especially with the Canadian GP now following the Miami GP in May.

2026 will kick off a new era for Formula 1, with significant changes to the car design and engine regulations coming into force. The new rules have also attracted some big names to the championship – Audi and Cadillac will join the F1 grid next year, while Ford will come onboard as Red Bull’s new powertrain partner.

  1. Australian GP to open season on March 6-8
  2. Abu Dhabi to host season finale on December 4-6

Canadian GP to clash with Indy 500

Australia will once again host the season-opener in March, followed by China. With Ramadan set to take place throughout February and March 2026, races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will be held in April.

The Canadian GP has been shifted forward to May and will be held just after the Miami round. This has been done to improve freight efficiency, as equipment can be moved directly from Miami to Canada. However, this also means that the Canadian GP is now set for a direct clash with next year's Indy 500 race.

Madrid in, Imola out

This change also creates a consolidated European leg, starting with Monaco in June and ending at Madrid in September. Imola has been dropped to make space for the second race in Spain. This will make Madrid the only European capital city to host an F1 race. The new Madring circuit features a 5.4km layout with 22 corners – two more than originally proposed.

The 2026 F1 calendar features two triple-headers, both of which will come towards the end of the year. The first of these will be Austin-Mexico-Brazil, followed by Las Vegas-Qatar-Abu Dhabi to wrap up the season in early-December.
