Eight days before the dawn of Diwali, the Indian electric two-wheeler industry has lit up by achieving a new high for monthly retail sales for the second month in a row. October saw the industry deliver a record 2.23 lakh units, up 48 percent compared to October 2025 and a 7 percent increase from September 2026. Market leader TVS alone delivered 60,429 units and has become the first Indian e-2W brand to deliver over 60,000 e-scooters in a single month. This means months into 2026, the e-2W industry has already crossed the 13.4 lakh units registered in 2025. With Dhanteras and Diwali coming up, November could deliver even higher numbers and outdo October. Let’s take a look at the top 10, a lot of whom have registered a new best sales month since they entered the market.
- TVS has crossed 60,000 sales for the first time in October
- Konarc hasn’t contributed as much as expected to Ather’s sales, yet
- India’s electric two-wheeler sales has a 63 percent share in the overall EV sales
Nine out of ten manufacturers register a significant sales growth
Vida has improved the most, with Ola continuing to lose market share
Growing from strength to strength, market leader TVS has achieved its highest monthly sales in October 2026. The company delivered a record 60,429 units, giving it a 27 percent market share. The sales are up by 94 percent and the market share is up by 6 percent compared to October 2025. TVS crossed the 50,000 units milestone for the thrice this year, but breached the 60,000 units milestone for the first time in October. As a result of the massive demand coming its way, TVS will not only surpass the 5 lakh annual sales milestone for the first time in November, but will also wrap up 2026 with record retails in the region of 6 lakh units. In preparation for the same, the manufacturer is ramping up production for the iQube and Orbiter to 80,000 units per month, up from the current 60,000-65,000.
Bajaj has also notched its highest monthly e-scooter sales in October with a single product, the Chetak. The Pune-based major sold 49,067 e-scooters and 22 percent market share, the former up by 51 percent and the latter up by one percent compared to October 2025. Chetak has crossed the 40,000 units sales mark four times this year, and it remains to be seen if November is the first month the company reaches the 50,000 units mark. Like TVS, Bajaj too aims to increase monthly production of the Chetak from the current 62,000 units to around 80,000 units in Q1 of 2027, as demand continues to exceed available capacity.
Ather retailed 31,796 units last month, up 5 percent compared to October 2025. While the Konarc was expected to lead to a higher number, capacity constraints have hindered dispatches to showrooms. The slower growth rate compared to TVS and Bajaj means that Ather had a 14 percent market share last month, compared to 20 percent in October 2025. Ather crossed the 30,000 units mark thrice this year, including October. The Konarc strategically targets the mainstream mass-market, however, contrary to what was promised at launch, Ather changed the variant launch sequence, prioritising the mid variants ahead of the base, with the latter now expected in Q1 of 2027. The decision comes as the company struggles to meet demand for its existing scooters, and the new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar should help with that.
October was a standout month for Hero (Vida) which is among the OEMs to register a new monthly high. The EV arm of the world’s largest 2W OEM sold a record 29,901 units, up 81 percent from October 2025. The 2.02 lakh Vida e-scooters sold in the past 10 months give Hero an 11 percent market share, up by 3 percent compared to January-October 2025. This is the highest monthly retail sales for the Vida brand, beating the previous best in September 2026.
Once the market leader and the automotive start-up industry’s poster boy, Ola has been hit hard by intense competition and is the sole manufacturer in the top 10 list to witness a sales decline. Its October 2026 sales of 12,096 units were down 26 percent and market share down by 6 percent compared to October 2025. In 2024, Ola sold 4.07 lakh units, which stood as the industry’s highest annual sales, until TVS bettered that number earlier this year. Greaves Electric Mobility, manufacturer of Ampere e-scooters, is another legacy player which has clocked its highest monthly sales in October. The 10,838 units, up 40 percent compared to October 2025 and mark the third instance of GEM achieving five-figure monthly sales this year.
The Bengaluru-based River, which continues to impress month on month, delivered 6,796 units in October 2026, up 273 percent from October 2025. This is its highest monthly deliveries and the second time the company has crossed 6,000 sales after July, giving it a 3 percent market share. Mumbai-based EV start-up, BGauss, sold 5,554 units in October 2026 and has surpassed cumulative sales of 91,000 electric scooters since market entry four years ago. The company has sold 40,724 units in the first 10 months of 2026, and will surpass 50,000 annual sales for the first time by the end of the year.
New Delhi-based E-Sprinto makes a mark again in October with 2,124 units, up 109 percent from October 2025, which gives it a 1 percent share of the record 2.23 lakh units. E-Sprinto’s October performance is the highest retail sales for the company, improving upon the 2,033 units in January 2026. Kolkata-headquartered Motovolt takes the 10th rank with retail sales of 1,702 units, up 158 from October 2025.
With 17.9 lakh units sold between January and October 2026, India’s e-2W industry with over 200 players is the largest contributor to India’s EV sales. Electric two-wheeler sales has a 63 percent share of the 3.54 lakh EVs sold in India in the first 10 months 2026. The segment is controlled by the top six manufacturers in this list, who accounted for an 87 percent market share, leaving a mere 13 percent for the 194-odd rivals. Given its robust 61 percent growth in this year to date and Dhanteras (November 6) and Diwali (November 8) coming up soon, November numbers could even ride towards the 2.5 lakh units mark. If the year-ending December delivers another 1.5 lakh units, then India e-2W Inc would be looking at 22 lakh units for 2026. That would translate into a 232 percent increase from the 6.61 lakhs units sold in 2022.
