Tata’s new premium EV brand, called Avinya, will be an independent luxury marque that will have electric cars positioned above the current flagship, the Harrier EV. The first model is likely to be a sportback that is expected to launch in 2026. The first Avinya concept was revealed in 2022 as a four-door coupe, and it showcased Tata’s next-generation EV architecture. The second concept was the Avinya X SUV. As the Tata Avinya car will be positioned above the Tata Harrier EV, first Avinya car price is expected to be higher than Rs 30 lakh ex-showroom.

Key Highlights of Tata Avinya

  • The first Tata Avinya sportback car is expected to make its debut in India by late 2026.
  • Second model to launch is likely to be the production spec Avinya X SUV concept
  • The Avinya models will be based on Tata’s Gen-3 skateboard EV platform — a dedicated born-electric architecture.
  • Tata Avinya length, width, height, wheelbase and ground clearance will be confirmed closer to launch
  • The Tata Avinya cars will offer fast-charging capability and are expected to offer high-range performance, enabled by advanced battery technology.

Tata Avinya Interior and Exterior

Though the production version is yet to be revealed, Tata has previewed the Avinya coupe concept which suggests a minimalist, premium interior focused on comfort, sustainability and software-defined features. Early previews indicate a relaxed, lounge-like cabin, eco-friendly materials and a flat-floor layout enabled by the Gen-3 EV platform.

On the outside, the Avinya is expected to have clean, futuristic styling, with a coupe-like silhouette. It gets a full width LED light bar that is designed to resemble a stretched out 'T' logo at the front and at the rear, the full width tail-light mimics the look of the front lightbar. It has a strong shoulder line, Rolls Royce-esque doors, a glass roof and blacked-out A pillars.

Tata Avinya Safety Features

Safety specifications for the first Tata Avinya car will be announced closer to launch. However, with premium positioning and modern EV architecture, it is expected to include advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), multiple airbags, stability control, and digital safety suites that are becoming standard in the premium EV segment.

Tata Avinya Rivals

The first Tata Avinya model could compete in the entry-level premium electric vehicle segment in India, going up against models like the BYD Seal.

I currently drive a Hyundai Xcent petrol and travel about 400-500 km every week. My budget is ₹25-30 lakh. Should I go for the Tata Sierra EV or wait for the Tata Avinya?

With a usage of 400-500km a week, we would recommend sticking with a petrol, diesel or hybrid vehicle for the moment.

The Tata Avinya range of EVs is still at least two years away, so there's plenty of time to consider a new car in between. Moreover, Tata is positioning the Avinya brand as a premium offering, so prices for its models will likely be north of Rs 30 lakh when it is launched.

In the meantime, the Tata Sierra is a good option, with loads of space and comfort, and a strong features list. Its engines are not the strongest or most exciting, and neither is the handling, but its standout design is sure to turn heads.
