The Porsche Panamera is equal parts sportscar and luxury car. The Panamera is available in standard- and long-wheelbase Executive versions, and the line-up also includes the Sport Turismo estate. Power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine in different states of tune, and with electric assistance on the mad range-topping E-Hybrid versions.

Where the original Porsche Panamera was ungainly, the second-gen model looks like the four-door 911 it was always intended to be. The Executive versions do appear stretched but the Sport Turismo carries off the ‘shooting brake’ look with elegance. Irrespective of version, all Panameras are superbly finished on the inside. It’s just that some of the touch-based controls aren’t intuitive enough to use. Thankfully, India-bound versions get a fair bit of standard equipment now and there’s a whole host of pricey options if you want more. All-round comfort is good, even if the cabins don’t feel as airy as those of traditional luxury limos. Note, the Sport Turismo is the only Panamera with a fifth seat; the others get individual rear seats only.
The Porsche Panamera India range starts with the quick 460hp GTS, the 550hp Turbo takes performance into supercar territory, while the 680hp Turbo E-Hybrid is next-level fast. In the corners, the Panameras will shock you for their precision, grip and poise. However, the heavy Turbo E-Hybrids aren’t quite as sharp as the others. Four-wheel steer is standard on the Executives and optional on the rest of the range. Good ride quality is another highlight of the Panamera experience.
