Maruti Suzuki India has announced that it will commence deliveries of the Vitara Brezza from March 25, 2016. The vehicles will be retailed via the manufacturer's regular dealerships and not its Nexa premium showrooms.

Launched on March 8, 2016 at the 2016 Auto Expo, the company claims to have received nearly 20,000 bookings for the sub-four-metre compact SUV.

It is powered by the 88.5bhp version of the fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine, badged DDiS 200. Maruti claims that the compact SUV will return a fuel efficiency figure of 24.3kpl.

All variants of the compact SUV come equipped with a driver-side airbag, with each variant at least getting an optional safety pack that adds ABS, EBD and a passenger-side airbag into the car’s safety kit. It is also the first car in the country to be certified for offset and side impact crash tests, which will be enforced in India in 2017.

Announcing the start of retail sales, RS Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India shared, “We are delighted at customers’ response to the car. They have appreciated it for its sporty and muscular design and the combination of features offered at multiple trim levels. Our endeavour now is to deliver these cars quickly so that customers can enjoy their Vitara Brezza.”
