The Shanghai motor show saw Toyota showcasing its all-new Vios, which is also known as the Yaris in other markets. The car was also on display at the recently concluded Bangkok motor show.

It’s a saloon that is sold below the Corolla in most countries. This new version sports Toyota’s new design language, and gets an all-new, completely redesigned front and a much sharper and more aggressive profile. The high-quality interiors come with chrome inserts, coupled with a black and beige colour theme.

According to Toyota, the Vios is designed "for global markets with world class standards." It features projector headlights, chrome trim on the body and alloy wheels. This family look on the Vios, as seen on the new Camry, will be seen on the new Corolla as well.

It comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that puts out 107bhp and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the top-spec variants get a four-speed automatic gearbox.

While there is no word yet on whether the new Vios could make its way here, the Vios would, if launched here, slot in between the Etios and the Corolla, and would compete with the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Honda City.
