Toyota has launched a special edition of the Etios Cross, the X Edition, with prices starting at Rs 6.8 lakh for the base petrol variant and going up to Rs 8.23 lakh for the diesel trim (all prices ex-showroom, Kolkata). The ex-showroom Mumbai price for the petrol variant is Rs 6.74 lakh.

The Cross X Edition is only available in a new quartz brown colour and comes with a few changes on the outside like black plastic cladding on the front grille, black bezels around the fog lamps, body-coloured side plastic cladding and ‘X Edition’ badges on the C-pillar. The special-edition crossover hatch also features new alloy wheels, black roof rails and door handles finished in chrome.

The cabin sports an all-black theme; the dashboard and door panels get a carbon-fibre finish, the seats have new fabric covers and there’s the new 6.8-inch infotainment system that doubles as a rear parking camera. In terms of safety equipment, the special edition gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat mounts.

The Etios Cross X Edition is powered by the same 80hp, 1.2-litre petrol and 68hp, 1.4-litre diesel engines that are mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The standard Etios Cross rivals the likes of the Fiat Avventura, VW Cross Polo and Hyundai i20 Active.
