Toyota has revealed the latest entrant to its Crown line-up, the Crown Signia SUV. The Crown line-up includes a high-riding sedan, a slightly bigger RWD sedan and the Crown Sport SUV that is currently on sale only in Japan.

  1. Crown Signia shares platform with the high-riding sedan
  2. Gets two 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation
  3. Will first go on sale in North America

Toyota Crown Signia: five-seat SUV with estate-like looks

The Crown Signia SUV replaces the Toyota Harrier and Venza in some international markets. It gets a crossover-like design and a slightly sloping roofline that gives it a sporty look. Up front, the Crown Signia gets the familiar “hammerhead” nose styling that's also seen on the Crown sedan, the Prius and the latest-gen Camry sedan that debuted recently.

The front bumper is tall, and there's a unique grille design and stylish headlamps. The slim LED daytime running lights are placed above in C-shaped pattern as seen in newer Toyotas. It has a sleek five-door crossover design and gets slim, wraparound tail-lamps. It has a comparatively lower roofline and short overhangs, which, coupled with the rugged fender extensions, give it a unique look and make it less estate-like.

Toyota Crown Signia: interior, powertrain

On the inside, the Crown Signia's dashboard is similar to the Crown sedan: it gets two 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation duties, and has multiple features, safety tech and textures depending on the variant.

Toyota Crown Signia SUV revealed

Toyota has revealed that the Crown Signia gets the familiar 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid engine, although they didn't specify the power output figures. On the safety front, the Crown Signia gets multiple airbags as standard, and also gets the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 that includes multiple ADAS features, depending on the variant.

Toyota Crown Signia launch timeline

The Crown Signia SUV is already on sale in Japan (called the Crown Estate) and will go on sale in North America soon. Expect Toyota to introduce this SUV to other markets in the near future.
