Tata Motors will soon be exporting its Nano to the Asian countries, starting with Sri Lanka, sources within the company have revealed.

The first lot of 500 Nanos will be sent to Sri Lanka in June 2011 after which the company hopes to sell approximately 200 cars every month through its dealer in the island nation. Currently, its dealer in Sri Lanka is selling only Tata trucks. The decision will help boost global sales and improve presence of the small car.

However, the company will have to tweak the Nano, in order to sell the car in Sri Lanka. The Nano will require an inertia reel belts in the rear to meet Sri Lankan regulations. Prices of the Sri Lankan variant are yet to be known.
