Skoda’s upcoming seven-seat SUV is set to make its official debut at the Paris motor show, that will be held in October 2016.

To be positioned above the Yeti, the SUV is expected to be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform meant for transverse engined, front-wheel drive cars. The SUV will get a standard front-wheel drive system, and an all-wheel drive system is likely to be offered as on the Yeti. There is no information on the SUV's official name yet, and it is likely to be powered by the regular line-up of petrol and diesel engines from the Octavia and Superb, paired to either a six-speed manual or a DSG automatic transmission.

The SUV body is expected to be longer in comparison to the Yeti, and details about its exteriors remain sketchy since the test mules spotted so far have used stretched body panels of its smaller sibling. To be manufactured at Skoda’s Kvasiny factory in Czech Republic, the SUV could go on sale by the end of 2016.

The carmaker is also said to be working on a few surprises for the coming year. Although no details have been released, it is likely that Skoda is working on a facelifted version of the Octavia with the Superb’s front grille and a double-headlight layout.
