The Seat Ateca has been unveiled ahead of its official debut at the Geneva motor show.
Seat is offering the new Ateca with a choice of engines that include a 1.0-litre TSI that produces 113bhp and a 148bhp 1.4-litre TSI unit. As for diesel, the car gets a 1.6-litre TDI which produces 113bhp and 2.0-litre TDI that is tuned to deliver 148bhp and 187bhp. The engines are mated to either a manual transmission or a dual-clutch DSG gearbox. Front-wheel drive will be offered as standard on all models, while all-wheel drive is optional.
The front end of the new Ateca looks aggressive with a trapezoidal grille and optional LED headlights. The crossover also gets roof rails, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, plastic body cladding, and faux skid plates.
Inside, the Ateca features a three-spoke steering wheel, a push-button ignition, and an infotainment system with up to an 8.0-inch display. It can also be equipped with a 'Connectivity Box' in the centre console that wirelessly charges compatible smartphones.
On the technology side, the Ateca comes with a number of safety systems including a traffic jam assist system that will automatically accelerate, steer, and brake the car at low speeds. Seat is also offering the car with blind spot detection, rear traffic alert and traffic sign recognition. Customers can also order an emergency assist system which will automatically bring the car to a halt in case of an extremity.
The Seat Ateca will be first of four new models to be launched by Seat in the next two years. The SUV is set go on sale in international markets later this year.
