Mercedes is going to produce three new variants of the S-class at its Sindelfingen plant in Germany by 2020 for international markets. The three new models are understood to be Cabriolet, Maybach and Pullman variants of the S-class. The cabriolet is a convertible coupe, the Maybach is the S-class with an extended wheelbase and the Pullman is the longest S-class with an even longer wheelbase.

Mercedes has announced an investment of 1.5 billion euros (approximately Rs 15,000 crore) for their Sindelfingen plant by 2020. This investment has been set aside to upgrade Mercedes' production facility for future models. The carmaker will also roll out the upcoming AMG GT and three new variants of the S-class from this plant. The plant currently produces the short- and long-wheelbase S-class sedan and the S-Class coupe.

Apart from the new models, Mercedes has also said that the money is being used to build a new assembly hall and a paint shop for the next generation E-class which is expected in the international markets in early 2016.
