The Nissan Sway concept has been officially unveiled at the Geneva motor show 2015. The car is to become the precursor to the next generation of small hatchbacks from the Japanese automaker.

The Nissan Sway concept sports the company’s new design language. At 4010mm long, 1780mm wide and 1385mm high, the Sway concept features a more conceptual style of the design language first introduced on the Murano on the outside. The interior of the car draws inspiration from the IDX concept that was revealed back in 2013.

Design chief Shiro Nakamura said: “We are experimenting to see how Nissan might be able to bring fresh ideas to the compact segment.”

The next-generation Micra is due to be launched globally in mid-2016. The model will be led by European design and engineering teams, as was done earlier with the Nissan Juke.
