Nissan has inaugurated a Parts Distribution Centre (PDC), in Chennai with an aim to improve its after-sales service across the country. The PDC will help supply spare parts to Nissan’s dealerships across India to ensure quicker and more efficient service, the carmaker has said.
The new after-sales service centre, built over 45,000 square metre area, has a dispatch volume of 2,800 lines per day, up 90 percent from the 700 lines in the previous facility. Nissan claims, this will enable dispatch of spare parts to different parts of the country on the same day.
The carmaker has also revealed plans of setting up more PDCs in different parts of the country in the coming months.
Kenichiro Yomura, president, Nissan India Operations, said, “Our new after-sales Parts Distribution Centre reaffirms our commitment to customers in India. Our plan is to have a hub-and-spoke parts distribution model. We will set up additional spare parts distribution centres in other locations in India in coming months, while Chennai will be the distribution hub”.
The spare parts facility will employ about 300 people and will be directly managed by Nissan Motor India with the support of Indospace, Yusen Logistics and Nippon Express.
