Jeep has begun work on the next-gen Renegade SUV, which is set to see a global debut sometime in 2022. The current-gen Renegade was unveiled back in 2014 and received a facelift a few months ago. The SUV is based on FCA’s Small Wide 4X4 platform that is used on a number of models like the Jeep Compass, the Fiat 500X and even the Fiat Toro pickup sold in South America.

The next-gen Renegade will continue to use the same architecture and will retain its original dimensions but will get more boot space, thanks to better interior packaging.

And like the current model, it will sit below the Compass SUV in the brand’s global line-up, but will see a new model positioned below it. This new model will come to India as well, as the new entry-point to Jeep's range and will allow the brand to tap into India's burgeoning demand for compact SUVs.

The current-gen Renegade was spied testing numerous times on Indian soil, but there is no official news from the company regarding its India launch.
