Jaguar has launched the new XF in India with prices ranging from Rs 49.5 lakh to Rs 62.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). A rival to the likes of the Mercedes E-class, BMW 5-series and Audi A6, the latest luxury sedan is larger and lighter than its predecessor, and unlike the smaller XE, has been launched in both petrol and diesel versions.

The biggest talking point of the new sedan is the diesel motor. The old 2.2-litre four-cylinder unit that powered its predecessor is now replaced by Jaguar’s new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel unit in the new car. The four-cylinder engine develops 180hp and 430Nm of torque. The petrol XF is powered by the 240hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine from the smaller XE. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is offered as standard.

Jaguar is offering the XF in three trims – Pure, Prestige and Portfolio. All three trims are available with the new Ingenium diesel engine while the petrol is only offered in the Prestige and Portfolio trims. Currently imported as a CBU, the new XF is priced within the same bracket as its rivals.

Key features on the new XF are:

· All Surface Progress Control (Pure, Prestige, Portfolio)
· Jaguar Drive Control system with four drive modes (Pure, Prestige, Portfolio)
· Front, side and curtain airbags (Pure, Prestige, Portfolio)
· Tyre pressure monitoring system (Pure, Prestige, Portfolio)
· Adaptive LED headlamps (standard on Portfolio, option on Prestige)
· Electric adjust front seats (10-way for Pure and Prestige, 14-way for Portfolio)
· Front seats with memory function (driver only for Prestige, driver and passenger on Portfolio)
· 360-degree parking aid (Prestige, Portfolio)
· Electric adjust steering (Prestige, Portfolio)
· Mood lighting (Prestige, configurable on Portfolio)
· 8.0-inch Jaguar InControl Touch infotainment system (Pure, Prestige)
· 10.2-inch Jaguar InControl Touch Pro infotainment system (Portfolio)
· Surround camera system (Portfolio)
· Navigation (SD-card-based on Pure and Prestige, hard-drive-based on Portfolio)
· Meridian audio system (380W on Prestige, 825W with surround sound on Portfolio)

The prices for the new XF are as follows (ex-showroom, Delhi):

Jaguar XF Diesel Pure: Rs 49.50 lakh
Jaguar XF Diesel Prestige: Rs 55.90 lakh
Jaguar XF Diesel Portfolio: Rs 62.10 lakh
Jaguar XF Petrol Prestige: Rs 55.65 lakh
Jaguar XF Petrol Portfolio: Rs 61.85 lakh
