A handful of Toyota dealers in multiple Indian cities have started accepting bookings for the all-new Vellfire MPV, which saw its global debut recently. Dealers tell us that stocks of the outgoing Vellfire have almost exhausted, and customers who made bookings for the older model are being informed to upgrade to the new Vellfire.

The unofficial booking amount is set at Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, depending on the outlet, and deliveries are expected to commence around late September 2023, according to our dealer sources.

    3. Will come with Executive Lounge package

New Toyota Vellfire: fresh yet familiar looks

The new Vellfire sits on Toyota’s TNGA-K modular platform and is lighter than its predecessor. Its styling remains similar, but the new model is slightly longer than before. Thanks to its cab-forward design, the Vellfire has a three-metre-long wheelbase with ample room for up to six people. There is a humongous six-slat grille that takes up most of the fascia of the MPV, including some parts of the bumper. The styling is unmistakably Vellfire, but there are many rounded edges and a redesigned glasshouse, along with additional chrome details.

    Toyota Vellfire interior, passenger comfort

The new Vellfire gets a simple-looking dashboard with fewer buttons than the outgoing model as most of the vehicle functions are now integrated into the large touchscreen that sits on the centre of the dashboard. Toyota says this Vellfire is much more luxurious than before. It gets a new and more comfortable seat design, a large overhead console for passengers to control various vehicle functions, multiple AC vents and newly designed pull-down sun shades.

For India, the Vellfire’s Executive Lounge package will continue to be offered. It comes with two individual captain chairs for the second row with retractable tables as well as heating and ventilation for the seats. There’s also a new detachable control panel that allows passengers to adjust media and climate settings, and sunshades. Its sunroof uses independently openable right- and left-side shades.

New Toyota Vellfire petrol hybrid powertrain

The new Vellfire comes with two engine options – there’s a turbocharged 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 279hp and 430Nm of torque, and comes mated to a CVT gearbox. The second powertrain on offer is the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid that has a combined power output of 250hp, and comes mated to an e-CVT transmission. Sources tell us that India will get the 2.5-liter petrol hybrid version.

New Toyota Vellfire: India launch details

Expect more details on the Vellfire’s India entry to be revealed in the coming weeks as the launch nears. A few dealers tell us that they have already received some confirmations for the new MPV, however, Toyota is yet to make any official announcement.
