McLaren, the popular British sportscar brand, is set to replace its high-performance 650S models with an all-new supercar in 2018, according to our sister publication, Autocar UK.

Currently called the P14, the new supercar is a part of McLaren's commitment to launch a new model every year.

While the 650S is powered by a 3,799cc, V8, enhanced by the twin-turbo set-up, and it makes 641bhp at 8,500rpm, the P14 is expected to feature McLaren's trademark chassis, and the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engine, with a power output exceeding the 650S. McLaren could also extend beyond the 666bhp of the 675LT; a limited-edition model that at present leads in the Super Series range.

On the design front, it’s understood that McLaren will provide the P14 with an extreme design language and will be a new design template for future models. Expected to be even more extreme than the P1, the company could retain the distinctive side-mounted air intakes and front bumper design.

McLaren will eventually also offer an open-top version of the car.
