Mercedes teases electric-SUV concept

Production version scheduled to on sale internationally in 2019; likely be badged EQG.

Mercedes has released a teaser video that partially reveals its all-electric SUV, which is set to be shown in the concept form at the Paris motor show.
 
Most of the front end of the concept is visible in the teaser, as is the interior. The front fascia appears to be entirely made up of illuminated elements, with similar illuminations carried through inside the car as well. No further information has been released along with the teaser clip.
 
It is already known that Mercedes' electric-vehicle range will be badged EQ; so following the carmaker’s existing nomenclature, the electric SUV concept will likely be called EQG once it reaches production. Mercedes has trademarked both, EQ and EQG, as well as other names based on the existing model range – names like EQ Inside, EQ Boost and Generation EQ have been also filed.
 
Just like Volkswagen’s EV concept, which is also being demonstrated at the Paris motor show, Mercedes’ first all-electric model is scheduled to go on sale in international markets in 2019. The concept is claimed to provide a "clear insight" into how the interior and exterior of the car will look upon release. 
 
Rivals Jaguar and Audi are also said to be working on all-electric SUVs, which will undoubtedly rival the EQG when on sale. Meanwhile, BMW has long been rumoured to be expanding its sub-brand into the electric SUV market as well.
