Mercedes is set to launch the updated CLA compact luxury sedan in India on November 30. The updated car will receive cosmetic updates in line with the current Mercedes A-class, with new headlamps, revised bumpers and grille with new-design alloy wheels also likely to be part of the package.

Updates to the cabin are expected to include revised switch gear, new steering, instrument cluster and upholstery, along with the inclusion of a larger 8.0-inch COMAND infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the feature list.

Mechanically, the car is expected to carry forward the same 136hp 2.1-litre diesel and 183hp 2.0-litre petrol engine from the current model. Also expected is Mercedes’ Dynamic Select System with a choice of drive modes. The current seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox is also expected to follow.

Interestingly, the current CLA 45 on sale has received a silent update with power from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder AMG engine bumped up to 381hp and 475Nm from the older 360hp and 450Nm of torque.

The facelifted CLA will rival the likes of the Audi A3 when it goes on sale and could be locally assembled from the start at Mercedes' facility in Chakan.
