The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé has just been launched in India at the 2020 Auto Expo, with prices starting at Rs 2.42 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India). The model holds the distinction of being the fastest series-production sedan around the iconic Nürburgring racetrack.

In this 63 S guise, the GT 4-Door Coupé comes fitted with a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which is good for 639hp and 900Nm of torque. The motor is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. This translates to a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.2sec.

The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé has much in common with the AMG GT sportscar and shares a lot of design cues as well; its nose and tail design are a direct visual link to the two-door sportscar. AMG’s slatted Panamericana grille gives the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé a menacing face.

On the inside, the GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé gets all the goodies available on the latest-generation of Mercedes models. Equipment such as a twin 12.3-inch display setup for instrumentation and infotainment with the latest MBUX system, a new steering wheel, and a touchpad on the centre console, are all part of the package. The central tunnel also sports a similar design to that of the two-door GT and it runs the length of the cabin to the back, making the GT 4-Door Coupé a strict four-seater.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S goes up against cars like the Porsche Panamera Turbo in the rarefied world of four-door performance cars.
