The Mercedes-AMG G63 will soon get a new Collector’s Edition in India, the price of which will be announced on June 12. Mercedes-Benz says the new AMG G63 Collector’s Edition will be “India Inspired”, paying a tribute to the “rich Indian tapestry and landscape”.

    1. New AMG G63 Collector’s Edition will be limited in numbers

    3. Special edition model has been completely configured in India

    Mercedes-AMG G63 Collector’s Edition: what to expect?

    India-inspired aesthetics and themes

Mercedes hasn’t divulged details of the AMG G63 Collector’s Edition, but says that it has been configured by the Indian team of Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Benz Research and Development. This is also the first time Mercedes has done an India special, and as such, customers can expect bespoke upholstery options and unique exterior and interior trim pieces exploring Indian themes and aesthetics. Bespoke colour options can also be a part of the package.

This would be quite similar to the upcoming Range Rover Himalayan Edition, which, again, is an India-based special. The exclusivity of such special editions is something that’s very attractive to high-end luxury customers. And it's no secret that the AMG G63 is already very popular among its discerning clientele, so an India special is expected to be lapped up pretty rapidly.

    Will retain 585hp, twin-turbo V8 engine

The AMG G63 Collector’s Edition will only feature cosmetic updates over the regular SUV. So, it will continue to be powered the 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine with 48V mild-hybrid tech. It produces 585hp and 850Nm, and there's an additional 22hp boost from the mild-hybrid system. The engine is paired to a 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, with power being sent to all four wheels via the 4Matic system.

Such special edition models do not come cheap, and given the exclusivity, expect a fair premium over the regular G63's current ex-showroom price of Rs 3.64 crore.
