Mercedes-Benz has launched the Edition 1 of the A-class and B-class in India. Limited to only a 100 units each, the A-class and B-class special editions have been launched at Rs 26.17 lakh and Rs 28.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), respectively.

This special edition is available only on diesel variants and gets additional equipment over the regular A 180 CDI and B 180 CDI variants.

Cosmetic changes on the outside of the Edition 1 models include glossy black wing mirror housings and decals with Edition 1 lettering. Both get new-design alloys but there are no changes in wheel or tyre size. Additions on the inside include electronic adjustment and memory function for the front passenger seat, rear seat center arm-rest with cup holders, a reversing camera, panoramic sunroof and Edition 1 badging. Additionally, the B 180 CDI Edition 1 gets a rear seat entertainment system. Except the cosmetic additions, the other equipment is available as paid options on standard models.

Based on customer feedback about the ride height of the hatchbacks being a problem on Indian roads, Mercedes has raised the ground clearance on all the 2014 model year units of the A- and B-class including the Edition 1s. Other mechanicals remain unchanged.
