Maruti's Feb 2015 sales rise 8.2 percent

India's largest carmaker also reportedly planning separate dealerships for its more premium offerings.

Maruti Suzuki India saw an 8.2 percent rise in sales for the month of February 2015 vis-à-vis February 2014, with 1,07,892 units sold.

Sales of the Alto and Wagon R rose to 39,988 units as compared to last February’s 37,342 units, a rise of 7.1 percent.

In the compact segment, the Swift, Ritz, Dzire and Celerio saw combined sales of 42,788 units, a drop of  6.4 percent over 45,721 units of last February.

In the mid-size segment, the Ciaz recorded 5,410 units sold for February, bringing total sales to over 28,000 units since the date of its launch in the market.

In the utility vehicle segment, the Gypsy and Ertiga saw sales rise by 12 percent to 5,863 as compared to the figures of the same period last year.

The Omni and Versa sold 11,301 units, a 13.8 percent rise over last February’s 9,932 units.

On the export front, the company posted sales of 10,659 units as against 9,346 units in last February. This meant the company saw an overall rise of 8.7 percent in sale vis-à-vis the same period last year.

On another note, the company is planning on opening separate dealerships for its more premium offerings. Maruti plans to open anywhere between 30 and 55 new dealerships all across the country by the end of the year.
