The Maruti Fronx, first launched in April 2023, is on track for a mid-lifecycle refresh, and a test mule of its updated version was recently spotted testing on our roads. Though a launch timeline is not yet confirmed, given the compact SUV’s strong demand – it was the second-bestselling Nexa model in FY2026 with over 1.72 lakh units sold – Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce the Fronx facelift sometime later this year.

Apart from the front grille, air dam and alloy wheels, everything else is under camouflage. As for the interior, not much is visible, but the door cards have some covering, pointing to design and/or colour updates. Even the touchscreen, which measures 9 inches in the current Fronx, may be replaced by a bigger unit featuring an updated UI. It remains to be seen whether features such as ventilated seats, a digital driver’s display and a sunroof are finally added with the update.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift powertrain expectations
Maruti currently offers the tried-and-tested 90hp 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with entry and mid variants, while higher-positioned variants are offered with a more powerful 100hp 1-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit. The NA engine can also be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit, though output drops to 78hp. A manual gearbox is standard across the range, while the turbo-petrol can be optioned with a torque-converter automatic.

Given the government’s push towards ethanol-blended fuel, a flex-fuel Fronx could also arrive soon. The Fronx FFV concept (compatible with up to E85 fuel, which means 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petrol) was shown at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, and the production version could be on the cards; currently, the Fronx is up to E20 fuel-compatible. Reportedly, draft rules for the rollout of E85 fuel could be notified soon.
The Fronx facelift will continue to compete in the hotly contested compact SUV space against the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq and other models.
