Renault Lodgy prices slashed by up to Rs 96,000

Renault has slashed prices of the Lodgy by up to Rs 96,000. The revision in pricing, however, is only applicable to the less powerful 85hp versions of the MPV, with the more potent 110hp variants costing the same as before.

As per the revision in prices, the entry-level Lodgy STD 85hp is now more affordable by a significant Rs 96,000. The 85hp RxE trim's cost is down by Rs 80,000, and is now at Rs 8.57 lakh as against the old price of Rs 9.37 lakh. The 85hp RxL trim is now cheaper by Rs 55,000, while the top 85hp RxZ trim is down by Rs 34,000.

With the revision, the prices for the entry-level Lodgy 85hp now starts at Rs 7.59 lakh positioning it closer to the Maruti Ertiga diesel whose prices start at Rs 7.08 lakh and go up to Rs 8.66 lakh.

Launched in April 2015, the Lodgy marked Renault’s entry into the MPV segment challenging the likes of the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova. While initial demand was strong – Renault sold 5,687 units in the first three months of launch – the manufacturer only recorded overall sales of 9,572 units for the financial year ending March 2016. In comparison, the Maruti Ertiga recorded sales of over 39,200 diesel units over the same twelve-month period.
