Koenigsegg’s Agera RS has broken the speed record for a production car after recording a two-way average speed of 447.2kph.

The record breaking run happened in Pahrump, Nevada with Factory driver Niklas Lilja behind the wheel. The Agera RS has claimed the title from the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport that had recorded a speed 431kph in 2010.

The factory driver and the Agera RS had also recently broken the Bugatti Chiron’s 0-400kph-0 record, posting a time of 36.44sec compared to the 41.96sec time set earlier by the Chiron.

The Agera RS weighs just 1,395kg and is powered by a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 1360hp and 1280Nm of peak twisting force.

The Swedish supercar maker also has its range-topping hypercar, the Regera, in its line-up though it has yet to fully demonstrate its top speed.
