Hyundai has released the details of all three versions of its Ioniq, ahead of their official debut at the Geneva motor show. The new Ioniq is the world's first model to be offered with the option of three electric powertrain options.

Exterior elements help differentiate the Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq Plug-in from the Ioniq Electric – while the latter gets exclusive copper-coloured accents, the hybrid and plug-in versions get blue accents.

The Hybrid and Plug-in versions of the Ioniq are powered by a new Kappa 1.6-litre GDI direct injected petrol four-cylinder engine developing 104bhp and 14.98kgm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed double clutch transmission.

The electric motor in the Ioniq Hybrid produces 43bhp and 17.28kgm. It derives power form a lithium-ion-polymer battery with a 1.56kWh capacity, positioned under the rear seats. As a result, the total system output is 139bhp and 27.02kgm of torque. The hybrid car has a claimed top speed of 185kph.

The Ioniq Plug-in on the other hand comes with an electric motor generating 60bhp, using an 8.9kWh lithium-ion-polymer battery. The model has a claimed electric driving range of over 50km.

The all-electric Ioniq Electric features an electric motor producing 118bhp and 30.08kgm of torque, and a 28kWh lithium-ion-polymer battery. It has a single-speed reducer transmission and a top speed of 165kph. Hyundai claims that the Ioniq Electric has a total range of over 250km per charge.

Features on the new Ioniq range include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging for smartphone devices, a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, TomTom live services, and an innovative safety package that includes autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and smart cruise control.
