Honda has announced plans to shift production of its new City sedan from the Greater Noida plant to its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

This decision is mainly because the carmaker has started production of the recently launched Mobilio MPV at the Greater Noida plant. The company says that it will not produce the City sedan in August; it will resume production in the first week of September. Honda’s Tapukara plant has already been producing the Amaze sedan since February this year when assembly operations began at the facility.

Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president (marketing and sales) Honda Cars India, said, “The shift of City production to Tapukara will ensure better availability and timely deliveries of the City and the newly launched Mobilio”.

The fourth-generation Honda City has been well-received in the Indian car market. Honda has gone on to sell 53,605 units (till July-end) of the sedan since its launch in January this year.
