Mercedes-Benz has released an official photo of the body shell of its upcoming GLC Coupe SUV.

According to reports by Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog, the German manufacturer’s BMW X6 rival will get a 500-litre boot with the seats up and 1,500 litres with the rear seats folded down.  The GLC Coupe is expected to be largely based on the GLC. The design of the coupè-crossover will be influenced by the Mercedes GLC Coupe Concept that the company previewed at the Shanghai motor show earlier this year. However, the GLC Coupe will most likely be a toned-down version with less aggressive bumpers and differently shaped mirrors.

The GLC Coupe is based on the same MRA platform that underpins the C-class, and will be offered with a familiar range of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel units. Mercedes is also reportedly planning a plug-in hybrid version that will use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and a 6.2kWh lithium-ion battery. The total system output will be 279bhp with 61.24kgm of torque.

Camouflaged prototypes of the GLC Coupe have already been spotted testing several times. The production version of the model is expected to make its debut at the 2016 Geneva motor show in March.
