Ford India will launch its iconic muscle car, the Mustang, on July 13, 2016, at a special event to be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida. Currently in its sixth generation, the model is the first Mustang to be developed in right-hand drive form, making it eligible for the market here.

The Mustang for India will be the fastback GT version, similar to the model Ford had on display at the 2016 Auto Expo. What's noteworthy is that the car headed to India is the full-blown 426hp, 5.0-litre V8 version with a six-speed automatic gearbox, and not the 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol-powered model available elsewhere in the world. The India-spec Mustang will also come with a special performance pack as standard including a limited-slip sports differential and four driving modes, namely Normal, Sport+, Track and Wet.

The Mustang features plenty of retro styling touches to the nose and rear, in addition to a bulging bonnet and brawny wheel arches. Design elements such as the wide shoulders, raked roofline and lengthy bonnet link the Mustang to its predecessors and give it a classic look.

There’s a dominant aviation theme in the Mustang’s cabin with details such as airplane-like toggle switches on the centre console. A leather-trimmed steering wheel, bucket seats, a touchscreen infotainment system and ambient lighting are also part of the package.

Ford has not revealed prices as yet but you can expect a price tag in the region of Rs 60-70 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom).
