Ford has confirmed at the Detroit motor show that it will be reviving the Bronco nametag with a new global SUV model. The SUV is slated to go on sale in international markets sometime in 2020.
The company has described the future Bronco as a "no compromise midsize 4x4”, suggesting it’ll be more rugged than Ford’s current SUV offerings. It’ll be built on the same platform as the next-generation Ranger pick-up, which is set for an international launch in 2019.
The fact that Ford has described the future Bronco SUV as a global model suggests that it will be launched in several markets outside of the USA. Production for the last Bronco model ceased in 1996, 30 years after the name was introduced to the American market.
No technical details or images for either future model have been released as of yet. The last design for a Bronco came with a 2004 concept.
The current-generation Ford Ranger pickup is not on sale in the North American markets, it shares platform with the Ford Everest (Endeavour) SUV which is also sold in India.
