Force Gurkha prices hiked by Rs 51,000

Launched late last year, the new-gen Force Gurkha has just received its first price hike, as the off-roader will now set you back Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

    • There have been no changes to the Gurkha’s feature list
    • It still uses a 90hp, 2.6-litre diesel engine

As you can see in the table above, the price of the sole trim that the new Gurkha is available in has increased by Rs 51,000. Though, this hike comes as part of a common industry practice wherein carmakers revise prices of their ranges at the start of a new year to counter increases in input costs.

    2022 Force Gurkha: features

This rise in price has not been accompanied by the addition of any features. Hence, the Gurkha still comes kitted with a dark grey colour scheme in the cabin, a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth support, tilt and telescopic adjust steering, USB charging sockets for all four occupants, power windows, central locking, air-conditioning, LED headlamps with DRLs, TMPS, and even a factory fit snorkel.

2022 Force Gurkha: engine and gearbox

Under the hood, the new Gurkha comes with an upgraded version of the 2.6-litre diesel engine that develops 91hp and 250Nm. This engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and also gets four-wheel drive with low range and manual locking front and rear differentials.

Unfortunately, Force doesn’t yet have an option for an automatic gearbox and even previous-gen Gurkha Xtreme’s 140hp, 2.2-litre diesel has been dropped from the line-up.

    2022 Force Gurkha: competition check

In terms of competitors, the new Force Gurkha’s closest rival is the new Mahindra Thar in its top-spec, diesel-manual LX hard top guise, which is priced at Rs 13.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). You can read our Force Gurkha vs Mahindra Thar comparison to see which of the two off-roaders is best.

    Force's future plans

Force is developing a longer, five-door version of the Gurkha off-roader that is set to be launched in India sometime this year. A test mule of the five-door Gurkha has also recently been spied testing on our roads, and despite being completely uncamouflaged, the model looks almost production ready.
